Welcome to Caribbean Visionz Deh Yah
Rohan Moore: Visual Artist
Rohan Moore is an intuitive, self-taught artist who works in oil, acrylic, water colours and a unique mixed media
technique, painted t-shirts and craft jewellery.
Awarded medals and merits for entries into the
Jamaica Cultural Development Commission from
2002-2005. While venturing into formal training
(Edna Manley School of the Arts), it became evident that
his authenticity and intuition, the driving force behind his
inspiration to pain and the signatories of his medium
needed to remain unadulterated.
Cultural heritage, struggles and contribution to the
Jamaican society of Rastafari as well as environmental
issues serve to compel Rohan Moore to make works that
provoke thought as well as promote greater overstanding
and tolerance.
Faith, community and the environment at large are the most significant influences in his work. Providing a visual celebration of everyday life in Jamaica, confrontations with legacies of the colonial past and depictions of the positive connections with his African heritage - using the mindscape of a Black Rastafarian perspective.
The intention of Caribbean Visionz Deh Yah is for
the viewer to feel or gain insight into the lived
experience of Rohan's Jamaica, through his curiosity
and his imaginary visions.
Feel free to browse, comment and inquire on the works!

Approach
Many available materials are used that will take paint such as wood, plyboard, canvas and other fabrics using oil, acrylic or water based paints. At other times Moore creates three dimensional reliefs using match sticks laid on board, carved and then paints.
Walking along the beach for meditation or collection small objects are incorporated into his work. Quite often the original intention is superseded by that of the spirit as the work will take on it's on life form.
